Maurice Steger leads the «Gstaad Baroque Academy» this year.

From August 31st to September 7th, Maurice Steger will lead the «Gstaad Baroque Academy» that takes place within the Menuhin Festival Gstaad.

The Master Class of the Baroque Academy is targeted towards advanced young musicians, students and professional recorder players, baroque ensembles and guests. Maurice Steger and his assistants will work mainly on solo repertoire for recorder, baroque sonatas and concerti. Ensemble repertoire of the 16th to 18th century can also be rehearsed and played.

Apart from the lessons, additional technical classes will be offered. The teacher works closely with his assistants and makes sure the course program is individually tailored to each participant in order to offer an optimal and sustainable learning experience. Maurice Stegers technical, musical and historical knowledge as well as his unsurpassed concert practice will make sure students will have a holistic course experience.

The repertoire comprises of all instrumental music of the baroque period written or adapted for recorder. The chosen works need to be presented to the teacher in advance. Keyboard istruments tuned to 440 and 415 HZ are available at the academy.

Maurice Steger and the Academy will decide on the participation of applicants. Students who are not selected can participate as listening guests. More information and registration about the «Gstaad Baroque Academy» (in German only).

On September 7th at 10.30 am a final concert will take place in the chapel of Gstaad. Selected works from the coursework will be presented by selected students.

The last comparable master class took place in Summer 2012 in Solothurn. You can read a short text about it (written in German) by one of the master class students, Claudius Kamp. It appeared in the renowned special interest magazine for recorder players, «Windkanal».

Im April war Maurice Steger nach Moskau eingeladen * In April, Maurice Steger was invited to Moskau.

Das Festival “Window to Switzerland” fand in den Mauern des Kreml statt. Das Festival möchte das Schweizer Musikschaffen aus verschiedensten Bereichen nach Moskau tragen, mit grossem Erfolg.

Das Video gibt einen kleinen Einblick in die Konzerte (Maurice Stegers Auftritt ab Minute 11:50).

In April, Maurice Steger was invited to Moskau to participate in the Festival “Window to Switzerland“. The concert took place within the Kremlin. The festival wants to promote swiss music culture from various genres in Russia. You can see a short excerpt of Maurices concert in the video from minute 11:50.
